WRITE A BOOK IN A DAY

WRITE A BOOK IN A DAY

Like Minds students and friends spent an exciting and creative day at the Korumburra Library on Tuesday, taking on the challenge to Write a Book in a Day.”

The students were divided into four teams — Bookworm Battalion, Folkstory Factory, Wordsmith Warriors and Chapter Chargers. Each team allocated roles, brainstormed ideas and developed a plan before beginning the mammoth task of creating a book from scratch.

The challenge required each team to complete a 3,500–5,000 word book, including a front cover, illustrations, blurb and back cover. There was plenty of creativity, teamwork and problem-solving throughout the day as students worked together to bring their stories to life.

The teams worked right up until the deadline, with their books needing to be fully written, illustrated, edited and formatted by 6.00pm.

Write a Book in a Day is an Australian school writing challenge that encourages students to develop their creativity, collaboration and literacy skills. The completed books are then made available to children in hospitals, supporting The Kids’ Cancer Project.

It was fantastic to see our students embrace the challenge, work together and discover just how much they could achieve in one day.

Well done to all four teams!
