THE VILLAGE

The Village: Supporting

As we get towards the end of term, it is normal to see students becoming a little more tired, less motivated and increasingly ready for a well-earned break. After a busy term of learning, friendships, activities and everything else that comes with school life, students can simply run out of energy.

This can be particularly noticeable for our senior students completing Units 3 and 4, who are balancing the demands of their final years of schooling with assessment, study and thinking about what comes next. For these students, the final weeks of term can feel like a particularly long stretch.

Rather than focusing on simply doing more, this is a good time to focus on looking after wellbeing while continuing to make progress.

A Few Things That Can Help

Keep routines as consistent as possible.

Good sleep, regular meals and some structure to the day can make a significant difference when students are feeling fatigued.

Focus on effort rather than perfection.

For our senior students especially, there can be a lot of pressure around results. Recognising the effort, persistence and progress they are making is just as important.

Make time to recharge.

Rest isn't wasted time. Exercise, spending time with friends and family, and doing things students enjoy can help them return to their learning with greater capacity.

Know when to ask for help.

If things are becoming difficult to manage, encourage students to speak with a trusted adult. Our students can also access support through their Sub School or Wellbeing.

Finishing Well

The end of term doesn't need to be about finishing perfectly. For our senior students, in particular, it is about continuing to take things one step at a time, looking after themselves and recognising how much they have already achieved.

We are incredibly proud of the effort our students have shown this term. As we head towards the break, we encourage everyone to look after themselves, support one another and remember that rest is an important part of being ready for what comes next.
