Book Week 2026 – What a Week of Fun at KSC!

Tuesday 25th August was Dress Up as a Book Character Day, where students got into the spirit and dressed up as their favourite characters and staff went with the theme of The Wizard of Oz. It was wonderful to see so much creativity and enthusiasm throughout the College. Our Gold Coin Donation raised an amazing $284 for Dolly’s Dream – thank you to everyone who contributed!

On Thursday, it was the staff’s turn to surprise the students, with staff arriving dressed as a crew of pirates! The challenge for students was to work out who the real Captain Salty Beard was. After plenty of guesses, the mystery was revealed – Mr Cronin was the real Captain Salty Beard!

We also had a number of Book Week competitions running throughout the week, with students putting their skills to test by guessing which staff member was behind the book and who wrote the six words describing themselves. A big congratulations to all our competition winners, and thank you to everyone who entered.

We finished the week with a special visit from author Emma Gourlay, who spoke with our Year 7 students about her journey as an author, advocating for yourself and having the confidence to take opportunities. The students enjoyed the session and had lots of interesting questions for Emma.

A huge thank you to all our staff and students who dressed up, entered competitions, donated, asked questions and, most importantly, joined in the fun. Your enthusiasm helped make Book Week 2026 a fantastic celebration of books, stories and imagination at KSC!
