Memory Books

As we get started on our memory books we encourage students to bring in stickers, photos, washi tape and other mementos they can use to decorate or enhance their memory books.

Bullying, ‘NO WAY!” Week

This week is Bullying, No Way Week. We have been continuing discussions around this very important topic. Thursday, Do it For Dolly Day, was a great success. We raised a lot of money, it will all be donated to support this cause.

Literacy

We are coming to the end of our Industrial Revolution unit. The students now have an understanding of how the changes in the world at that time still have an impact on today. They have explored economics and learnt a little bit about capitalism, socialism and communism. We have been proud of how they have engaged with the unit. We have had meaningful discussions and they have demonstrated a mature level of understanding.

Mathematics

The grade six teachers are excited to delve into fractions, decimals and percentages. We are having a lot of discussions around how important this knowledge is in real world situations.

Students have enjoyed learning about angles and perfecting their skills using a protractor. Ask your child about the difference between supplementary and complementary angles. (Supplementary = 180 degrees and complementary angles are 90 degrees)

We continue to work on the students' fluency skills. We want the students to be incredibly proficient at their multiplication and related division facts to ease the cognitive load of high school mathematics.
