Literacy:
Little Learners:
In Little Learners, we have been learning the sounds ‘i-e’ (five strikes) and ‘i’ (find a giant). We have been developing our phonics skills through reading ‘Rise and Shine’ and ‘The Reptile Files’, while practising recognising and using these sounds in words.
Writing:
In Writing, we are exploring Looking After Country with Fire by Victor Steffensen. Students are learning about the importance of caring for Country and how First Nations Australians use fire to protect and manage the land. We are using the text to build our vocabulary, develop our understanding of different perspectives, and create our own informative and persuasive writing.
Math:
In Maths, we are learning about number patterns and skip counting. Students are exploring patterns in numbers and practising counting forwards and backwards by 2s, 5s and 10s. We are developing our ability to recognise, continue and explain number patterns, while building fluency and confidence with numbers.
Wellbeing:
In Wellbeing, we are learning about our own strengths and the strengths of others. Students have been exploring the positive qualities that make each person unique and created their own Mr Men/ Little Miss posters to celebrate these strengths. This week, we are also taking part in Bullying No Way Week, learning about kindness, inclusion, respect and how we can help create a safe and supportive school community.
Dojo Points:
Well done to these students who have won their next award!
