Primary Swimming District Championships
On Tuesday 5 March Aitken College Primary Swim team competed in the division swimming at Broadmeadows Aquatic Centre. We took a strong team of 22.
The team performed very well with 6 students going on to the Division championships at Water Marc in Greensborough on Thursday 21 March. Congratulations to the following students who progressed through: Raissa L, Noah G, Lyla B, Adriel M, Aaron K, Nathan R and Kareem H.
Secondary Division Swimming
On Friday 8 March Aitken College Secondary Swim team competed in the division swimming at Broadmeadows Aquatic Centre. We took a strong team of 30.
The team performed very well with most going through to the Division championships at Water Marc in Greensborough on Wednesday 27 March. A big thank you to our two Year 12 students Jessica Y and Denil P for being a part of the Aitken College Swim team since Year 7. Go Aitken!
Tennis - Years 1& 2
As part of our Year 1 and 2 PE curriculum, students are taking part in a 6 session tennis clinic with Chris Guccione. Chris is a former professional Tennis player who has won five ATP Tour doubles titles, and reached career-high rankings of singles world No. 67 and doubles world No. 38. The students are so lucky to have such a talented tennis player to teach them the basic skills of tennis!!

Aitken College Swim Carnival
The much-anticipated Year 3-12 Swimming Carnival proved to be a resounding success, creating waves of excitement among students and spectators alike. Hosted at the impressive Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre, and with the addition of 100m events, showcasing the swimmers' prowess and adding an extra layer of competition. Parent spectators lined the poolside, enthusiastically cheering on their children as they showcased their swimming skills.
The smooth execution of the carnival wouldn't have been possible without the dedicated efforts of Sport and House captains, as well as the invaluable assistance from our PE staff who ensured the seamless running of the events.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the spirited atmosphere, with students reveling in the friendly competition and the camaraderie. Congratulations to our outstanding swimming champions who demonstrated exceptional skill and determination in their respective categories.

Congratulations Brodie House on taking out the first Year 3-12 Swimming Carnival. The Carnival was a day filled with unforgettable memories for all involved.
Primary NMR Tennis
Congratulations to Dana J and Savidhu G for participating in the Northern Metropolitan Region Tennis singles competition on Monday 25th March. The competition was tough on the day and both Dana and Savidhu put up a good fight but lost 0-6 and 2-6 in both games respectively.
Primary SSV Woodlands Division Tennis Competition
On Wednesday 13 March. Four Year 5/6 students participated in the Woodlands Division Tennis Competition. Students played in 3 pools with the winners of each pool playing off in the Semi Finals to try get into the Grand Final and therefore NMR (Northern Metropolitan Regionals). Students were competitive and demonstrated great sportsmanship. Unfortunately, none of them have progressed through to NMR this time. The results from the day are below:

Cumberland Cross Country Results
Under the warm conditions, Cumberland took part in the House Cross Country event that saw our students conquering a challenging 2km course around the College grounds. From the athletics track to the scenic journey to and around the farm, the runners showcased both speed and endurance, making every stride count.
Fast runners emerging from all year levels and the high turnout and spirited involvement added to the infectious atmosphere of the day, turning it into a memorable experience for everyone.
A heartfelt thank you goes to our dedicated Dunhelen House and Sport captains, as well as the Homeroom Teachers, whose support and marshalling duties ensured the event ran smoothly. Special congratulations to the outstanding recipients of year-level medals, whose determination and commitment shone brightly. The Cumberland House Cross Country was not just a race; it was a celebration of sportsmanship, endurance, and the undeniable spirit of our students.

2024 Secondary House Cross Country Results
The House Cross Country Carnival is an exciting event that takes place annually on the grounds of Aitken College. This year, it was held on Tuesday 5 March on a 3.3km course. The aim of the House Cross Country Carnival is to encourage physical activity and promote healthy competition among students as they represent their houses. Thank you to House captains, VM Students and Secondary staff for their help on the day. Their efforts ensured the smooth running of the event and created a supportive and encouraging environment for all participants.
