John Fawkner College Students Embrace Hands-On Learning in Women in Trades Program

Ten young female students from John Fawkner College are breaking barriers by participating in the Women in Trades course at ONTTC. This year-long program, held every Thursday, provides Year 10 students with hands-on experience in various trades, including electrical, automotive, and plumbing.

The initiative aims to introduce students to Vocational Education and Training (VET), helping them develop practical skills and gain industry exposure. By engaging in this program, these young women can make informed decisions about their future VET course selections in their senior years.

At the end of the course, students will walk away with a range of valuable certifications, including a White Card, First Aid certification, and a Certificate in Furniture Making.

We look forward to sharing this journey with these young ladies and watching their progress as they build skills and confidence in the trades industry.
