MV School of Football comes to the classroom
Lesson Plans
For Week 6 of the program, students tacked a football-related numeracy task in the classroom and worked on their one-on-one skills on the pitch with various game-sense activities. School of Football sessions incorporate SWPB proactive strategies. Positive narration is used to impact attendance, respectful relationships, and engagement, and football-themed settled starters, learning intentions and success criteria are used to promote a safe and consistent environment.
Attendance
The all-girls meeting last Monday allowed for targeted promotion of the School of Football as well as other programs at JFC. As a result we had 10 additional girls trial in Week 6. The reduced cost of the program and a concerted effort to recruit new students has impacted attendance.
Year 7 Boys - 18 students
Year 7-10 Girls - 16 students
Year 8-10 Boys - 14 students
Collaboration
Working in the classrooms with students allows the coach to explore ways to apply the skills learned in the MV program to the classroom and make links between succeeding at football and enjoying the classroom.
Looking ahead to Term 2, we welcome the opportunity to work with Domain teams to link School of Football lesson plans to current units of work as well as work with students on an individual basis.
