As we prepare for Term 2, we are excited to welcome our new yr 7 students to the QuickSmart Literacy Program! This is the 7th year John Fawkner College has been running this successful intervention program. This evidence-based program is designed to help students who need extra support in reading, comprehension, and confidence-building.

Who is QuickSmart for?

QuickSmart is designed for students who:✔️ Need extra support in reading fluency and comprehension✔️ Struggle with processing speed and recalling information✔️ Lack confidence in their literacy skills✔️ Would benefit from small-group, structured learning sessions

Selected students will participate in three 30-minute sessions per week, working in pairs with a trained QuickSmart Literacy instructor  to improve their reading skills

How Are Students Selected?

Teachers will identify students who would benefit from QuickSmart based on:

  • PAT Reading Assessment results
  • Teacher observations
  • Classroom performance

Parent & Teacher Involvement

Parents and teachers play a key role in supporting student progress. We encourage parents to:📖 Read with their child at home🗣️ Engage in conversations about books and stories🎯 Encourage participation in QuickSmart activities
