Principal's Message

It is hard to believe that I am already two weeks into my time as Acting Principal of Tarneit Rise Primary School.

The past fortnight has given me the opportunity to see our school through a slightly different lens, and one thing that has stood out is just how much happens across TRPS every single day. With so many students, staff and families making up our community, there is an incredible amount of learning, activity and organisation happening behind the scenes — but most importantly, there is a genuine sense of care for our children.

One highlight of the past fortnight was our Book Week celebrations. I was at a Principal Conference, so I missed the dress-up day and assembly, but it was wonderful to see the enthusiasm across the school as students and staff celebrated books, stories and reading. Days like these remind us that while learning is at the heart of what we do, school is also about creating experiences, building relationships, and giving children a strong sense of belonging. 

As Acting Principal, I have also enjoyed spending time in classrooms, speaking with students and staff, and connecting with families while out on yard duty. Our students continue to impress me with their enthusiasm, curiosity and willingness to share what they are learning — and they are never short of suggestions about what they think the Principal should be doing!

Over the coming weeks, my focus remains on ensuring our students continue to receive the high-quality learning opportunities, care, and support our families expect from TRPS.

As we move towards the end of the term, I encourage our families to continue talking with their children about what is happening at school. Ask them what they are learning, what they are enjoying, what they have found challenging, and what they are proud of. Sometimes a simple question can open the door to a wonderful conversation.

Thank you to our staff for the support they have shown me as I have stepped into this role, and to our families for the many kind words and conversations over the past two weeks.

I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to lead our school during this time and look forward to everything still to come this semester.
