Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another busy and engaging two weeks at Le Page Primary School, with students participating in a wonderful range of learning, leadership, wellbeing and community activities.
House Athletics Day
Our students enjoyed a fantastic House Athletics Day, demonstrating enthusiasm, teamwork and great sportsmanship throughout the day. Events such as these provide an important opportunity for students to challenge themselves, support their peers and contribute proudly to their House. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a positive experience for our students.
Bridge Builders
Our Bridge Builders students continue their participation in the program that will end early in Term 4. This is a valuable opportunity for students to strengthen their communication, leadership and relationship-building skills while learning practical strategies that support positive friendships and respectful interactions.
Emergency Evacuation Drill
On Tuesday, the school conducted an on-site emergency evacuation drill during lunchtime. Practising these procedures helps ensure that students and staff understand what to do in the event of an emergency. Our students responded calmly and responsibly and should be congratulated for the way they followed staff directions.
Teddy Bear Hospital
Our Foundation to Year 2 students welcomed Monash University medical students for the Teddy Bear Hospital incursion. Students enjoyed an interactive learning experience designed to help children become more familiar and comfortable with doctors, hospitals and health care.
Prep Butterfly Incursion
Our Foundation students also enjoyed a special Butterfly Incursion this week. Experiences such as these bring learning to life and provide students with opportunities to observe, question and explore the natural world in an authentic and memorable way.
Young Authors National Recognition
We are incredibly proud to congratulate Oliver and William Sellinger, who have achieved an outstanding #4 ranking in the National Young Author Best-Seller competition as part of the National Young Authors’ Fair Australia 2026. This places Oliver and William among the Top 5 young authors in Australia, a remarkable achievement and wonderful recognition of the creativity, persistence and effort they have put into their writing. As Top 5 National Young Authors, they will receive a Gold Medal, Certificate of Achievement and an exclusive podcast opportunity with the BriBooks Editorial Head. Congratulations Oliver and William. This is an achievement to be very proud of and another wonderful example of Le Page students pursuing their talents and aiming high.
Casual Dress Day
Today was our Casual Dress Day, organised as a Lighthouse fundraiser, with students invited to bring a gold coin donation in support of the Leukaemia Foundation. It was wonderful to see our students contributing to a cause that supports others and demonstrating the values of kindness, empathy and community service.
Assembly - Habit 2 and the Lorraine Francis Award
We finished the week with our whole-school assembly, recognising students demonstrating Habit 2 – Begin with the End in Mind. Habit 2 encourages students to think about their goals, make purposeful choices and consider what they want to achieve before they begin.
We were also delighted to welcome Nick Staikos MP, who presented the Lorraine Francis Award to Ramona Di Giorgio. Congratulations to Ramona on this wonderful recognition.
Year 5 and 6 Camp at Woorabinda
Next week our Year 5 and 6 students head to Woorabinda Camp in Gippsland. Camp is always one of the highlights of the senior primary years and provides students with opportunities to develop independence, resilience, teamwork and confidence while sharing experiences with their friends and teachers beyond the classroom. We wish all our students and staff a safe, enjoyable and memorable camp. I am sure there will be plenty of stories to share when everyone returns! Weeks such as this demonstrate the richness of school life at Le Page. Alongside the important learning taking place every day in classrooms, our students continue to experience opportunities that develop their confidence, curiosity, leadership, relationships and sense of belonging.
