Year 2 Newsletter

Term 3 Week 8 2026 -  Friday 4th, September.

What have we been up to?

As Winter turns into Spring, we continue to have a ball in grade 2! Book week was a hoot as we had the opportunity to watch the awesome performance about working together and compromising. During Book week dress up day, everyone had the most amazing costumes, so much effort was obviously put into many of the great costumes!

the ⅚ Market day stalls were a great success! We had so much fun buying their awesome items. The 5/6s did a wonderful job!

And we also had our fabulous athletics carnival! Thank you to the parents who joined us for our impromptu parent race! The children were such great team players, thinking win-win all day! We were very lucky to get a beautiful day of sunshine.

In Literacy, we have started a new topic of text analysis. We are exploring the book ‘Window’ by Jeanie Baker. This fabulous wordless book follows the life of a character through his window, allowing us to see how his life and his community changes every 2 years, from when he is born, to 24 years old! We have begun making connections to the book and what we can see outside our window!

In Inquiry, we are continuing to learn about the past and present in our community. We have explored ‘olden days’ games and toys, understanding that children played in different ways to how we play now. We have been drawing with chalk and learning to skip with skipping ropes too. We also explore how fashion and clothing has changed. the students created a person wearing ‘olden days clothes’. from puffy dresses to disco pants, the outfits were superb!

Important reminders:

  • Hats are not required in term 2 or 3, but they are encouraged, as the sun is still shining! Please continue to send your child to school with a water bottle each day
  • We are continuing to send take home readers each week. Your child will not be able to take home a book without a reading satchel. If your child does not have one, please reach out to your classroom teacher. If you have any further feedback or questions regarding take home readers, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your classroom teacher.

Please feel free to reach out to your classroom teacher  if you have any questions.
