Tremendous 3

Term 3 Week 8
Year 3 Newsletter
Welcome to Week 8 of Term 3!
Literacy:
In Literacy, students have continued developing their understanding of free verse poetry through our reading of The Little Wave by Pip Harry. As we have followed the stories of Noah, Lottie and Jack, students have explored how poets can use language to express feelings, experiences, thoughts and observations in meaningful ways.
Students have also been putting their free verse skills into practice by writing their own poems on a range of topics. They have explored writing about things that are important to them, including a favourite hobby and a special place. It has been wonderful to see students experimenting with descriptive language, poetic devices and line breaks to create poems that are personal and unique to them.
Students have shown great creativity and enthusiasm throughout our poetry unit, and it has been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they develop their own poetic voices.

Inquiry:
Over the past two weeks, students have continued exploring the important role that communities play in our everyday lives. They have further developed their understanding of what makes a community successful and how individuals can contribute positively to creating safe, inclusive and connected communities.
Students have also continued working towards their Community Project, applying their learning to identify community needs, consider possible solutions and develop ideas for their own ideal community.
