School Student Broadband Initiative 

The Australian Government has launched the School Student Broadband Initiative to provide free home internet for one year for up to 30,000 unconnected Australian families with school aged students. 

The program is available to all students without an active nbn connection at home. Registration is open until Dec 2024. 

To be eligible, families must have: 

• A child living at home that is enrolled in an Australian school
• Not have an active National Broadband Network (nbn®) Internet service at home (Having a mobile internet service does not affect eligibility)
• Live in a home that can access the National Broadband Network via a standard connection (this will be checked for you)

Master Classes for Term 3, 2024

Mastermind Australia  are running a number of courses during Term 3 to help students prepare for exams. The courses will be held at Christ Church Grammar School (20 July - 14 September)

Small-group seminars for senior school students focus on the ATAR Learning Areas of Chemistry, Economics, Physics, Maths, English, Literature, Biology and Human Biology. 

The program for middle school secondary students focus on the Learning Areas English and Mathematics.

Students may enroll in these classes at any time during the term and pay pro rata with a 20% discount. 

Intersection Closures of Hamilton Street, Sevenoaks Street and Railway Parade

This week METRONET issued a public notice about the proposed intersection closures of Hamilton Street, Sevenoaks Street and Railway Parade between July and December 2024. These disruptions are required for the relocation of waterpipes and then to rebuild the Hamilton Street intersections. 

These works will be completed in four stages:

Stage 1 (Monday 8 July to mid-August) and Stage 3 (mid-September to late-October)

• Closure of the Sevenoaks Street southbound lane between Mills Street South and Stockman Way, the northbound lane will change to single lane each direction
• No right turn from Sevenoaks Street onto Hamilton Street, both directions
• Left turn only off Hamilton Street at the intersection with Sevenoaks Street, both directions

Stage 2 (mid-August to mid-September)

• Closure of the Sevenoaks Street southbound lane between Mills Street South and Stockman Way, the northbound lane will change to single lane each direction
• No right turn from Sevenoaks Street onto Hamilton Street, both directions
• Left turn only off Hamilton Street at the intersection with Sevenoaks Street, eastbound
• Railway Parade closed at Hamilton Street. Local traffic access available between Mills Street North and Hamilton Street, and Hamilton Street and Dora Street
• Hamilton street closed between Railway Parade and Sevenoaks Street

Stage 4 (late-October to mid-December)

• Closure of the Sevenoaks Street northbound lane between Mills Street South and Stockman Way, the southbound lane will change to single lane each direction
• No right turn from Sevenoaks Street onto Hamilton Street, both directions
• Left turn only off Hamilton Street at the intersection with Sevenoaks Street, westbound
• Hamilton Street closed between Richards Place and Sevenoaks Street

After School Program in Mathematics and Physical Science 

Murdoch University After School Program in Mathematics and Physical Sciences provides classes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. 

Each course runs for 2 hours a week between 4.30pm and 6.30pm starting the second week of Term 3. Students are welcome to attend 1 to 3 times a week depending on their interests.
