Rotary Four Way Test 2024

St Norbert College has begun a partnership with Ascot Rotary Club to provide Year 10 students with the opportunity to participate in the state-wide Four Way Speech Contest. The contest aims to support the English curriculum in speaking and listening, and an opportunity for teachers to develop student skills in listening, reading, public speaking and creative writing.

Each student chooses their own topic, but the four principles of the Rotary Four Way Test must be explored in a six-minute speech.

  • Is it the TRUTH?
  • Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  • Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

The Ascot Rotary Club Heat final was held on Tuesday, 23 July during a Breakfast Meeting at Dome Belmont.

Well done to English teacher Miss Shirley Leddy our outstanding speakers, who wowed Rotarians and judges alike with their well-researched topics.

Ann Baiju – Ethics of Fast Fashion

Brian Le – Australia’s Refugee Policy

Catherine Gabriel – Schools Need to Teach Real Life Skills

Congratulations to Catherine who won First Prize and will compete at the District Semi-Finals in August.
