School Council News

(Repeat)

School Council met for the fourth time on Tuesday 16th June.

We began with our usual run down from two of our Senior JSC’s, with Lana, supported by Jack, giving an engaging and detailed overview of what’s been going on from a students’ perspective. Highlights included the Athletics Carnival, Interschool Sports, the Grade 5/6 Election Day, the upcoming FOW Lantern Walk, and, of course, the highly anticipated and wildly successful Gaga Pit!! It was great to hear that despite the incredible demand, our Willy Kids have been able to successfully and fairly share the space across all year levels without teachers needing to intervene!

We then heard from Mat, and a big discussion was had surrounding our wonderful “Friends of Willy” (aka parents’ association) and how we can engage more parents to get on board! Unfortunately, numbers have been dwindling for several years now, and we are seeing a decline in parents putting their hand up to volunteer to help with wonderful community events (such as last years incredible Seaside Fair, and the upcoming Winter Solstice Lantern Walk). If you are able to spare a few hours here and there to volunteer or even commit to joining the FOW team to ensure our school can keep running these incredible community events, please reach out!

We finished by touching on the school’s financial position and allocation of funds, discussions had surrounding the schools Child Safety Policies, and procedures that are being put in place to ensure our kids’ wellbeing.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 21st July.
