Bastille Day Celebration 2026
Term 3, Week 1 - Tuesday July 14th , 2026
Hello WPS families and community!
The whole school will be celebrating the French National Day of Bastille Day on July 14th, the second day back from Term 3. This event is a way to promote the French language taught at Willy Primary, which will reinforce the French values of ‘Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite’ (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity).
To complement the whole school Bastille Day celebration, Prep to Year 6s will attend a French show performed by Philipe and Jacques combining French music, mime, comedy, and drama in the P.E. Hall (Consent and payment on Compass). These experienced performers will take students on a hilarious journey of French drama and music!
Prep to Year 2 - session 3 in the Hall
Year 3 - 6- session 2 in the Hall
Families are welcome to come and enjoy our Bastille Day parade held at 2:30 on the basketball courts at WPS.
This will be a day of fun and learning, mixed with entertainment, full cultural immersion and exploration for the taste buds to celebrate together!
To prepare for our celebration, we are asking families to start thinking about putting together:
1. A French outfit for your child (no need to buy anything new! A bit of imagination and creativity goes a long way)
2. Ideas for a French lunchbox for the day (you can start researching recipes of simple yet yummy French foods to prepare at home with family to bring to school on the day). We are also encouraging students who have one to bring along a labelled picnic blanket as we plan to eat our lunch as a whole school on the oval.
Warm regards,
Sara Borrens
