Upcoming Learning

Literacy

During Literacy we have been reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. It is a classic children's book about a mysterious and colossal metal robot that appears in a coastal farming village. The robot initially causes fear and chaos, but as the story progresses, it reveals itself to be a gentle and helpful creature. Through our novel study the students will be learning the purpose and structure of an information report where they will practice their note taking skills and will further develop their knowledge of expanding sentences to create a paragraph.

Maths

Over the next fortnight in Maths, students are building on their understanding of doubling and skip counting as they begin using multiplication and division symbols and recognising patterns in numbers. They are exploring multiplication and division by solving problems using number sentences, diagrams and arrays. Students are also developing confidence with skip counting by 3s, 4s, 5s and 10s, and using this knowledge to understand related division facts and the connection between the two operations.

Inquiry

Over the next fortnight in Inquiry, students will explore the concept of Government by learning the difference between rules and laws, why laws are important, and how they impact their everyday lives. They will also investigate how the Australian government is structured, including the role of local government and how communities use and contribute to local services.

Wellbeing

This term, our focus is Positive Coping and Problem Solving. Throughout Term 2, students will engage in a range of topics and activities linked to this theme. To learn more, click the green button below to access the resource book.

Kitchen Garden

With a pumpkin harvest from the Skye garden, 3A students got creative in the kitchen—whipping up pumpkin and honey bread, fresh salad, and roast pumpkin and chickpea sausage rolls. Back in the garden, they planted beetroot and peas and took pride in leaving the space neat and tidy.
