ALIA National Simultaneous Storytime 2026

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS), held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), is a much-loved event that celebrates reading and literacy across Australia. Each year, a picture book by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in schools, libraries, childcare centres, bookshops, and homes around the country.

Now in its 26th year, NSS is a vibrant and engaging event that highlights the joy of storytelling while supporting key learning areas of the Foundation to Year 6 curriculum.

Skye Primary is excited to be taking part again this year, on Wednesday 27 May 2026 at 12:00 pm AEST.  At this time, millions of children, parents, teachers, and library lovers across Australia and beyond will come together to read Luna Roo simultaneously, celebrating the joy of reading, storytelling, and connection. millions of children, parents, teachers, and book lovers across Australia and beyond will come together to read Luna Roo.

Published by Little Book Press, Luna Roo follows the spirited kangaroo Luna and her friends as they chase their football dreams across the outback. Filled with action, teamwork, and fun, the story is sure to inspire young readers. Luna Roo was selected from 84 submissions from publishers across the country.
