Numeracy
During the next two weeks students are learning to convert improper fractions to mixed numerals by using division. They will develop their understanding of how fractions relate to whole numbers and how to represent them in different ways. Students will also learn
to represent fractions with the same denominators on number lines. This helps build their understanding of the size and position of fractions, and how they relate to whole numbers.
Students are focusing on converting between 12-hour and 24-hour time. They are developing confidence in reading 24-hour time on an analogue clock and practising how to convert times between the two formats. Students are also learning to represent both 12-hour and 24-hour time accurately on a digital clock. This unit helps build real-life time-telling skills that students can apply in everyday situations.
Literacy
Our literacy sessions will focus on a class novel Black cockatoo. Students will identify sentences and sentence fragments, determining conjunctions that best suit creating more complex sentences. Through the text, students will expand their vocabulary and participate in discussions to better comprehend the text.
