Principals Report

2021 has been a year like no other!! A special congratulations to our students, staff and families for your resilience, support and commitment to making the most of our exceptional school in such a challenging landscape.

We have so much to celebrate for this year and to look forward to in 2022:

YEAR 12 2021 - YOU ARE ALL SIMPLY AMAZING!!

This term we farewelled our Year 12 - a fantastic, respected and resilient group of young adults. As their Deputy Principal, I witnessed our students navigate the path of a HSC like no other - remote learning, alternative assessment tasks and HSC examinations being moved back to late term 4. There were celebrations they could not be a part of and disappointments that I have not witnessed for any other cohorts. Testament to the incredible group of young adults they are, not once did I hear complaints or see them lack the will to finish this marathon, but  time and again picked themselves up and continued to the finish line of the HSC completion. Thanks to the support of their families and the ever present year advisor Mrs Starkey. Every student graduated on the 6th December with their heads held high and a proud feeling of accomplishment, as seen in the picture below:

Special thanks is to be shared with Mrs Starkey for her tireless efforts in supporting Year 12 over the past six years.

As this newsletter is published Year 12 will have celebrated with their Graduation and Formal. HSC results will be released on the 24 January 2022. We look forward to sharing their successes with our school community at the beginning of Term 1 2022. This year, more than ever the following quote appears so appropriate:

Congratulations and best wishes to Year 12 2021.

Year 7 2022

Welcome to the Henry Kendall High School family! December 9th was Henry Kendall’s virtual  Orientation day for our incoming year 7 group. Students participated in a wonderful online meeting with their Year advisor Ms Sanki, meeting their new teachers and learning about their new school. All students have received a show bag of information and goodies ready for 2022.  Thank you to our partner schools, Student Services teams, Ms Sanki (Year Adviser), and the office staff for supporting the students and HKHS.

On behalf of Henry Kendall High School I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our Principal Mr Backhouse for his valued, respected and tireless leadership in this year of all years. Mr Backhouse is currently on well deserved leave, and we wish him all the best for his extended break.

As we near the end of term on behalf of Mr Backhouse, Mrs Wearne, Mr Wright and myself  thank you to our fabulous school community for your support in 2021. I wish you all a safe and happy Christmas with your families and friends and look forward to health and happiness in learning with our Henry Kendall family in 2022.

Mrs Donna James
