HSIE & Language
2021 will be year that will be remembered in History. Only in my History Extension lesson today, I was explaining that students in 100 years will look back at the events of 2021 in the same way that we study the Spanish Influenza Epidemic of 1918/1919. This semester has been a challenging one and while our return to school was welcomed, our day-to-day school lives have changed. This resilience shown by my fellow teachers, administration staff, cleaning staff, parents/caregivers and most importantly, our amazing students has been outstanding. Our school motto of “PERSEVERE” has never been more fitting. HSIE and Language students have persevered and risen to the challenges presented.
I would normally acknowledge students’ academic performance in this my final newsletter of 2021. This year, however, I want to celebrate all students on the successful completion of the school year. Through our work in the classroom or via remote learning, many of you have achieved wonderful results.
To my exceptional colleagues – Mr David Ardley, Miss Katey Ellis, Ms Sasha Fitzgerald, Mrs Julia Kostalas, Mrs Danielle Le Page, Miss Cass McLennan, Mrs Chloe Mitchell, Mr Judd Newton, Mrs Raegan Travica, Mrs Lisa Wright, I can only express my gratitude for the expertise, dedication and care you bring to the classroom each day. Your willingness to support students and each other during our interrupted school year was truly inspirational.
We wish everyone in our HKHS School Community a wonderful Christmas and holiday period. We look forward to an amazing 2022.
