Special Education
On Wednesday 1st December the students from the Special Education Centre set up their clothing Op Shop once again to have an end of year clearance sale. After a quiet couple of school terms it was exciting to have a special event happening again. COVID restrictions meant we could not open the shop to mainstream students, but we were happy to serve students from the Special Education cohort and many school staff. Most customers went away feeling very pleased with the bargains they bagged.
Our students thoroughly enjoyed the day which allowed them to develop handy retail skills. They organised and sorted the merchandise, set up clothing displays, served customers, handled money and did some shopping themselves.
The students suggested the money raised from the sale this week be donated to a local charity. They decided Coast Shelter would be the charity of choice. We will proudly write a cheque for $160 and send it off before the end of term.
Next year, we hope to continue and expand on this Op Shop Project as part of our in-school Work Education Program. We look forward to all the mainstream students to come along.

We finally take a break after an exhausting year for all. The students were quick to settle in and resume their learning in the classroom. The students enjoyed their social skills day where they enjoyed dressing up and be served by the staff. Before lunch the girls participated in a personal protection program around being safe in the community. At the same time the boys completed an activity around how to be safe whilst out and about.
On the last Wednesday our students had a great time in Special Educations, Great Race. After an intense hour the students relaxed and viewed the videos that the students have been creating with Mr Rogers.
