Girton Students Visit Theatreworks

On Wednesday the 17th of August, VCE Unit 2 Drama students and Unit 4 Theatre Studies students attended an excursion to Theatreworks in St Kilda to watch the play, Medea: out of the Mouths of Babes. The play was an interpretation from the children’s perspective of the Greek myth Medea. This was a valuable experience to broaden our understanding of contemporary theatre. The students all agreed that the performance was highly captivating.

Following the performance, we had a Q & A session with the Actors and Director, it was interesting to learn about how the production team used a kid’s council to heavily influence their creative decisions. It was also interesting to learn about the rehearsal process, and character development each actor experienced.

We enjoyed lunch in Acland Street, St Kilda after the show and some of us were excited to meet Australian actor, Lyndon Watts, who performs the role of Aaron Burr in the musical Hamilton. This was a surprise and extra highlight of the day!

Thank you to Ms Ellison and Mr Crickmore for helping organise an amazing day for these students.
