Success at the

Ethics Olympiad

Rebecca Smitran, Ethics Olympiad Coach

On Friday 25 November, Year 8 and 9 IGNITE students participated in the Middle School Ethics Olympiad which was hosted online through Zoom. Posed with eight challenging moral dilemmas, students were asked to critically consider a range of ethical positions through collaborative dialogue.

The case studies examined a range of concepts such as stealing, friendship, renewable energy, online bullying, and citizenship.

It is with great pride that I report that the Year 8 team won the silver medal and were closely followed by the Year 9 team who won the bronze medal. The Year 8 team will now compete in the International Final which will be held next year. Here, they will compete against schools across Australia, India, Hong Kong, Singapore and New Zealand.
