Girls Zone Basketball

On Wednesday 9 November, three teams travelled to Morphett Vale Basketball Stadium to compete in the zone competition. Our girls team who had only a few trainings under their belts ran hard all day against some fierce opponents in Encounter Lutheran College, Hallett Cove School, Investigator College and Wirreanda Secondary School. Some exciting plays from Zeeva, Miller and Angela, as well as good sportsman by all, saw the team have a fun day and learn some new skills.

Year 7/8 Boys Basketball

We had two boys basketball teams, one in Division 1 and the other in Division 2. The

Division 1 competition was very competitive. Our Division 1 team started strongly winning against Wirreanda’s 2nd team convincingly. We then had two very close losses within a basket or two against Wirreanda's 1st team and Hallett Cove. The last two games were very tough and both teams were very strong competitive teams from Investigator and Encounter HS.

Jamie was our leading scorer and best player throughout the tournament, able to drive to the basket regularly and score or get fouled. Blair and Nash also contributed strongly. One highlight was Kody getting on a hot streak, scoring a couple of threes in a row to almost steal a win against Wirreanda’s 1st team.

The Division 2 team were predominately Year 7’s against some much bigger opposition. They played some great team defence and had a good win against Wirreanda achieving similar results to the Division1 team, with one win in the tournament and a few close losses.

Owen, Beven and Angus Rutherford were our leading scorers and Daniel was a block machine on defence. Next year’s team will be very strong when many Year 7’s transition to Year 8 with some valuable experience behind them.
