Performing Arts

Have you heard? 

2023 is a Whole School Production year at St Joseph's, and we will be performing Shrek The Musical Jr! 

It has been a few years since we have had this performing arts experience for the children at St Joseph's, with the last attempt cancelled in both 2020 and 2021 due to Covid restrictions. Prior to this, a whole school Production has been an important biennial event at the school for about 30 years! It is an opportunity for the students to showcase their creativity on stage to the community and for the whole school community to work together. 

All students in years 5 and 6 will take on a 'main' character while the F-4 students will be the 'ensemble'. Students will practise acting, singing and dancing in their Performing Arts lessons throughout term three and early term four to bring this wonderful musical together for performances in mid-October (exact dates to be confirmed). Students will also collaborate together using their design, technology and art skills to help make backdrops, aspects of their costumes and props, as well as the tickets and the program.

Parent assistance is ALWAYS welcome to help make a Production happen! I know there are a lot of creative people out there in our community, and I can't wait to have you involved. Please keep your eyes out for the "Production Helpers" Google Form early next term or contact me directly if you would like assist.
