Japan trip 2019

More on the Japan trip from the participants

We began our journey at Nakamura Senior High School. After our arrival we were greeted by Ikeda Sensei, where we tried on kimonos bought from our host family and took part in a tea ceremony. In the first week of our trip, each of us embarked on home stay with a Japanese family that welcomed us into their home and took us out to experience the city of Nagoya. Students went to places such as Nagoya castle, Legoland, Osu shopping strip and Nagashima spa.

We then departed for Hiroshima by bullet train and visited Hiroshima peace park and museum. We also went shopping, ate okonomiyaki, and went to Miyajima Island. After that, we travelled to Kyoto and saw Kinkaku-Ji (Gold Pavilion), Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Kyoto Tower, Fushimi-inari (Red Tori gates) and a day trip to Nara.

We then travelled to Tokyo where we went to Harajuku (fashion suburb) and later visited the shibuya-inu hachiko crossing. On day 2 we visited Akihabara (shopping area famous for its anime and electronics). We then went to the much-anticipated Disneyland, where we spent over 12 hours trying as many rides as possible. We couldn’t be more grateful for this trip and we are all very thankful to Mrs A and Mr Haines for their unfaltering organisation.
