Junior School news

The Junior School has been busy over the last few weeks running information sessions for our 2020 Year 7 students and their families.

On Thursday 10 October was Grade 6 Parent and Student Information Night. It began with the Year 8 Band Forms playing a selection of songs, followed by some key information presented to the parents. The Grade 6 students participated in getting to know you activities in the JLC that was lead by a group of Year 7 students. These students planned and practiced their activities one day a week for the whole of term 3, with the guidance of the Year 7 Student Managers Petra Witt and Phil Hull.

At the Grade 6 Music Information night on Tuesday 15 October future Year 7 students could trial different musical instruments before selecting to join a band form for 2020. Tim Veevers and the music department staff were all involved in the night, along with the Year 7 band forms who helped the students with their trials.

Thank you to all of the staff and students who were involved in making both of these nights a great success for our future Year 7 students and families.

Public Speaking

Over the last two weeks the Year 7 and 8 students had the final to the Public Speaking competition. There was a representative from each class who prepared and rehearsed an oral presentation to the whole cohort. The students did a fantastic job. Congratulations to Alex Arvanitis (Year 8) on ‘Refugees in Nauru’ and Juliette Lemieux (Year 7) on ‘Inequality of Women
