Celebrating 100 Years of Lilydale School

(1919 – 2019)

 

Look To The Light' is the first formal history of Lilydale Higher Elementary and High Schools, marking its progress from foundation to a modern day institution.

 

The book details the struggles involved in creating a vital institution, from maintaining student numbers to creating a full curriculum, and rebuilding after the fire in 1958.

 

Along the way, it shares the triumphs and tribulations of those who have been part of the adventure, as well as acknowledging the involvement of the local community in ensuring the well-being of their hard won and much valued school.

About the Author - Lynda P Carroll

Lynda Carroll has a PhD in the history of the Melbourne Football Club and is a Life Member of the MFC, as well as a committee member of the MFC Past and Present Players' and Officials' Association. She is also a member of the Professional Historians Association (Vic and Tas), and a member of the Australian Football Heritage Group.

 

Look To The Light is Lynda's second fully authored book, joining The Grand Old Flag (MFC history), published in 1999. She has also written and researched for numerous publications, ranging from books to magazines, including the AFL Record, The Yorker (Melbourne Cricket Club Library), Gippsland Country Life and Yarn. 

 

Lynda comes from a family of writers, with her father also having a book published this year.

2019 Gallery of Achievement

The Lilydale High School Gallery of Achievement, acknowledges those alumni who have demonstrated outstanding contribution, success, achievement and/or service in one or more of the following fields of endeavour:  professional life, sporting pursuits or working in the community.

 

During the Gallery of Achievement induction ceremony, the following alumni were nominated for our Gallery of Achievement.

 

Each inductee received a certificate from Minister Merlino and a LHS Centenary bag  from our School Captains.
