ATAR, Change of Preferences and Where to FIND HELP?

From Thursday 12 December, Year 12 students will be able find out their VCE results via SMS and online.

Once students have their ATAR results, they may wish to add, remove or change your preferences until the 14 December, 12 pm for December offers and 20 December, 12 pm for January offers.

There is lots of help during this time if students need to change their preferences. All Universities and TAFEs have a number of different ways in which students can contact them, ranging from open days, to phone hotlines, live chats on their websites, Facebook pages and in person with course advisors.

A full list of where to find help at this time is available for students on the Year 12 Google Classroom.

VET 2020

Students completing a first year VET subject in 2020 attended a VET Orientation session on Wednesday 4 December.

Students were informed about the requirements of their particular course and in some instances, were required to complete important enrolment paperwork.

Students who missed this session are required to contact the course provider directly and obtain any work or information that they may have missed.

Youth Central

About 80% of all job vacancies are not advertised, so it is crucial that you market yourself to businesses with an excellent resume and cover letter.

Make sure you tell as many people as possible that you are looking for work as often employers rely on ‘word of mouth’ to recruit for their positions.

For excellent job seeking tips, check out the resources at Victoria Youth Central www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au .

Youth Central is the Victorian Government's website for young people aged 12-25, filled to overflowing with great information and articles about:

Lilydale High School Careers Website

The LHS Careers webiste contains a large amount of information and should be your first stop when you are looking for information on: jobs, careers, university and TAFE related courses and much more.

The site has a specific area where students can log into and complete skills and interest tests, create resumes and cover letters.

School Leaving Age

From January 1st 2010, the Government brought in new requirements for the school leaving age.

Before a student is allowed to leave school they must satisfactorily complete Year 10 and until the age of 17, they must be in some form of full time training or employment.

Training options can include:

  • VCE
  • VCAL
  • Full Time TAFE
  • Apprenticeship

Any students wishing to leave school before these requirements are met must put in a request for exemption to the Regional Director in consultation with Lilydale High School.

Students leaving school before the end of Year 12, are required to fill in an EXIT FORM and complete a Careers appointment.

Leaving school or not attending school can result in non-payment of Centrelink benefits.
