Year 10 Captains'

Awards Assembly Speech

Congratulations everyone, we got through another year of high school. This year has been an eventful one. Thank you to everyone for such a good year.

We just completed all of our exams and you all should be very proud of yourselves. It was a stressful time but, we all pushed through to do as well as we could.

The next two years are going to be big for most of us, whether you are doing VCAL, VCE, an apprenticeship or getting a full time job. I want to wish everyone luck in whatever you are choosing to do.

This year’s production of Aida was amazing. It had a great storyline of a princess, who was captured and fell in love with a captain, who was betrothed to another princess. The story was set in Ancient Egypt. Good job to everyone involved, whether you were backstage, a lead or even part of the chorus.

In August, a 'Coward’s Punch' victim came and spoke to everyone about what the 'Coward’s Punch' is and about Pat Cronin, who lost his life to a punch to the back of the head. The whole speech was very emotional and everyone took a lot out of it.

This year's camp won’t be one to forget, The Kings Canyon hike was amazing and visiting the Aboriginal Dreamtime Experience and learning how to throw a boomerang with Mike was fun. Visiting Uluru was incredible!  We all enjoyed learning how the indigenous people learnt to survive in that environment for thousands of years.  Also our visit to The School of The Air and the Royal Flying Doctor’s service base in Alice Springs, was very intriguing.

All sporting carnivals this year were a great success with outstanding performances from all athletes. We hope everyone had a great time and hope you participate in the 2020 carnivals.

The Formal this year was a huge success, everyone looked amazing and there were many great dancing moments, such as, Mr Bleakly’s dancing, which I don’t think anyone will ever forget.  Overall it was a great night!

We’d like to say a final goodbye before we step down as Captains. This has been a great year and we really appreciate all the great support!  So thank you and have a great summer break.

Year 9 Captains'

Awards Assembly Speech

Valentina

Good morning everybody.  So today marks the annual End of the Year Awards ceremony and also the end of Year 9.

This year has brought us many opportunities such as,  Wellbeing Day where we learnt to break the status quo and just accomplish what we want to.

We have all grown from the start of Year 7.  Some of the people we didn’t even know at the start of the year, are now our closest friends.

Things change so quickly within the span of a year.  From the start of the year, where we just started to meet new people in our classes to now, we have come to understand our interests.

The Instrumental Music students had the opportunity to play at Hamer Hall, which is a great Victorian Orchestra. I want to congratulate all of the people who completed AMEB Exams and got excellent results.

The production cast performed “AIDA” and personally, that was one of the best experiences of a lifetime.

The STEAM members were selectively chosen to compete in the Beat Saber tournament and LHS came 1st. Well done to everyone who received excellent results in those competitions.

Tayja

Last week, we had 4 teams compete in the Nationals Basketball Tournament. It involved all teams playing one or two games of basketball, against teams from all across the country for a week.

Congratulations to all Year 9 players including; Cooper Rouget, Rhys Crossley, Jeremiah Whitelaw, Callum Toner, Taylor Holly, Toby Law, Callum McCulloch, Jayden Woodworth, Mitch Green, Paula Pavic and myself, who competed all week. It was great to see such hard working athletes putting in all their effort and using their talents.  Even though, they might not have won all their games, not once did any of them not have a smile on their face.

With the Senior Boys coming home with a bronze medal and the Intermediate Girls team winning gold, it was a great way to finish off the school year.

A big thank you to Mr Stuart, Mr Hagar and Mr Mitchell for coaching and putting in all your efforts.

Jye

In Term 1, the whole school competed in the School Swimming Carnival.  It was awesome to see a large amount of the Year 9’s come and participate in some events.  As always, the whole school looked great and dressed up in their house colours and costumes. There were a variety of different events and those who won their events, went on to the district swimming carnival. Overall, it was a great day and everyone had a great time.

In Term 3, we had the Athletics Carnival.  A lot of people who attended this day competed in an event, which was awesome to see.  Athletes who won their event went to the district athletics day.  We had many students compete in this round and there were even a few athletes, who then went onto the regional athletics day.  A  handful of students even went on to compete at state level. A big congratulations to all the Year 9’s and the teachers for another successful 'Swimming  and Athletics Carnival'.

Cooper

Tasmania camp was definitely a highlight of the year. It wouldn’t of been as enjoyable, if we weren't there with our friends.

This year has definitely been an eventful and memorable year. These experiences are memories,  we will treasure for a very long time.

Last week, we all undertook the Year 9 Maths and English exams. Even though we spent this whole term revising, it paid off in the end, to complete the exams. The exams were challenging but, they were also very good practice for our exams in later years.

On behalf of the Year 9 Captains', I want to congratulate all of you for completing the first exams of many to come.  This year has brought us many challenges, where we have had to work individually, however we came out of those trials and have overcome those challenges.

Year 9 has been a very exciting year and I want to thank everyone for making this year special. Thank you for listening.
