HOUSE CROSS COUNTRY
What a fantastic start to our PE for this term. The Cross Country went really well despite the morning storm. The students walked down to Billabong Park to take part in the run. Each year level ran a little bit further starting at half a kilometer all the way to 3 kilometers.
A big thank you goes out to the parents and teachers who braved the cooler morning and supported our students during their run.
Congratulations to all the winners!

Visual Arts
Welcome to Term 2 in the Visual Arts!!!
The students have been creating new artworks and analyzing artists. The Prep students have just begun exploring the artist Claude Monet and are making their own water-lilies. Year 1's and 2's are exploring the artist Picasso and are creating their own portraits in a similar style.
The year 3's and 4's have been finishing off their 'Weeden Heights Posters' (in Ted Harrison Styles) from last term. They will begin researching the artist; Vassily Kandinsky and will respond in abstract styles. The year 5 and 6 students have been working hard on their notable banners and they will be hung up on Thursday. The students have added such great detail and tone to their works and they will all be on display for open night.
All the classes have worked extremely well within art and responding in critical and creative ways. This term, we will be mainly exploring painting, model making and textiles.
STEAM
This term sees the year 3-6 students working in the lab on Chemical and Physical Science.
Grade 5/6M and 5/6K students are investigating the properties of light and how it enables us to see. Through investigations students explain how objects reflect, absorb and refract light, and how we can use light to meet our needs.
Grade 2/3A and 3/4S students are investigating solids and liquids through out melting moments lessons. Students will explore how solids or liquids are influenced by temperature, students experience the way items from their everyday lives can be changed.
Grade 1/2D and 1T are coding on the computer. They are learning how to be safe on the computer and develop their coding skills.
Prep students are using their knowledge of code from when they used the blue bots and converting this knowledge to the coding program on the computer.
Looking forward to another busy term in the STEAM Lab.
