Harmony Day 2023

Northern Bay College celebrated a fabulous day celebrating Harmony Day on Tuesday 21 March.

Goldsworthy Campus hosted our first ever Year 7-12 assembly and all would agree it was a memorable one.  From the start to end it was filled with colour and great messages about Northern Bay College’s proud affiliation with cultural diversity and that this is what makes our college so strong.

A powerful smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country from the Wadawurung community started the proceedings followed by a performance from the Karenni ladies choir with a message to all young people to study hard and to get an education which was very inspiring.

Our College Captains did a great job as hosts of the assembly and they too looked outstanding dressed with an influence of their cultural traditional dress. Fiona has Indonesian heritage and Jevic was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

To top it all off we had an amazing dance performance highlighting many of Northern Bay’s cultural groups followed by all students joining in the dance moves to “Everyone Belongs” with flags of all cultures flying high it was such a fantastic way to end the assembly with a very important message. Everyone Belongs under the dance director our effervescent Irene Bukulikira - was a highlight across every campus.

The celebrations continued at Goldsworthy for our Wexford and Tallis students who stayed on to enjoy sports activities hosted by our senior students as well as enjoying the inflatables in the gym.

The courtyard then came alive when students joined a great fiesta vibe created through music, food and dance.  The Thanaka and Henna stalls were run off their feet and the VM students had many customers buying their goods and sampling their food and coffee.

Check out the Campus Photos from each day and catch the Everyone Belongs Harmony hit! Thank you Mrs Dick for your Facebook Photos. Don't forget to always check out what is going on each day through the College Facebook.
