Michael and Ana from Tallis have shared some thoughts about Science:
- This term we have been learning about particle theory. Particle theory is the particles of solids, liquids and gases and what they look like.
- We have looked at how liquids turn into a solid which is called freezing. Solids turning into a liquid which is called melting.
- A highlight has been doing experiments. Some of the experiments have been: making rain, catching fog, expansion and contraction.
- We show our learning during a Blooket (like Kahoot!). It’s fun doing the quiz!
- Sometimes Science can be a little tricky but it’s still fun.
Faith, Oscar and Levi from Tallis have shared some thoughts about GITTC:
- I enjoy GITTC and am always excited to see Chef Belle. Meeting new people from other campuses has been fun. In cooking I have made meat pie, spaghetti, fried rice and chicken schnitzel and potato.
- In Robotics we have been learning about how to program robots. We have been using lego to build our robots, connect it to a program on the ipad which allows us to control them. It’s fun but can be challenging at times.
Here are some highlights from Tallis students Beau, Ang and Lachlan:
- In Humanities our highlights have been:
- researching and finding out about civil and criminal law
- listening to guest speakers, Irene and Beltrand about refugees and assylum seekers
- Art highlights have included:
- Self portraits - enjoyed learning about drawing realism
- Learning about famous artists - Freda Carlo is interested in realism and her artwork is inspiring!
Year 9 Humanities
Year 9 Humanities students attended the Narana Centre where students learn about Aboriginal culture through hands-on activities such as painting traditional art and throwing boomerangs.
They also enjoyed the opportunity to feed and pat kangaroos and wallabies while learning about their behaviour. This excursion is an integral part of the year 9 Australian history unit as it acknowledges and teachers First Nations culture and history and that Australian history predates 1788
