Co-Curricular Nominations 2019

Co-Curricular nominations for students in Year 10, 11 and 12 in 2019 have started using EDVAL Web Choice. Nomination forms have been distributed to students in Home Group and outlines the process. Approval for nominations will need to be given through Consent2Go which was emailed out on Monday 5 November. It is expected all students participate in at least one co-curricular sport or activity for Blackfriars. Any student who plays for any sporting club, must also represent Blackfriars in that same sport when the school sport program is taking place.

First XI Cricket

The First XI Cricket team played Mercedes College in the first game of Term 4. Blackfriars were sent into bat first. The loss of quick wickets had the team in trouble very early on. A crucial 7th wicket partnership between Criscitelli and Cornish ensured a defendable total was made. Blackfriars were all bowled out for 82 with Criscitelli top scoring with 25 runs. The team needed a huge effort in the field and needed to bowl accurately on a pitch that troubled the batsmen. Ralph opened the bowling and took a wicket in the first over. Criscitelli came on first change and proved to be the game changer. He took two wickets in his second over and then claimed a sensational hattrick in his third over! By this stage, Mercedes were 7/28. The fielding was outstanding with Singh and Gray both claiming catches. Mercedes were all bowled out for 41. Criscitelli finished with figures of 5/9 off five overs. Blackfriars won by 41 runs.

Blackfriars played St Peter’s in the second game for Term 4. Blackfriars were sent into bowl first. Ralph struck early in the second over with the first wicket. The second partnership was difficult to break before Cornish came on and took a wicket with his first ball. The runs were building up as the bowling changes were made. The fielding was good with Flanagan holding two catches including one quick reflex catch. Ralph (3/19) and Singh (3/41) took crucial wickets along with Gray, Cornish and Ross to have St Peter’s 9/181. The loss of early wickets in quick succession put the team under pressure early on. Ralph (15), Krenske (16) and Cornish (20) all making valuable contributions in the middle order. Ross and Cornish showed determination at the end with a 29 run 9th wicket partnership. Blackfriars were all bowled out for 90 and lost the match 91 runs.
