THS Performing Arts

Rehearsals for Thornbury High's "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory" are officially underway! With the show performing in just under 2 months, the excitement from everyone involved is unwrapping (just like a chocolate bar!).

From learning lines and choreography, to fun games and chaotic physical and vocal warmups, there is never a dull moment with the MARS-velous cast and crew behind the scenes. Determination and hardwork are just a few words to describe the tremendous effort the team has been putting in. With the show starting to take shape, we've got a few TWIX up our sleeves that we just can't wait for you to see!

So come with us, take a spin and open your eyes to paradise and a world of pure imagination…

Senior Theatre Studies

This term, the Unit 3 Theatre Studies class has been working hard on their first Outcome -a production of The Real Inspector Hound. Run entirely by the students themselves, this production showcases student acting, direction and design in costume, makeup, set, props, lighting and sound. Their incredibly hard work, commitment and stellar teamwork would be reason enough to come and see the show - but more importantly, it's a fantastic and funny production!

Thornbury High School's VCE Theatre Studies class is proud to present "The Real Inspector Hound". Join theatre critics, Moon and Birdboot as they watch a classic country-house murder mystery, only to get caught up in the action, causing a series of events that parallel the play they're watching! Hilarity and absurdity ensue.

Our gorgeous VCE Theatre Studies classes attended their first excursion of the year to the Tony Award winning musical Fun Home at the Arts Centre, Melbourne. A mature and moving musical, the performance was really enjoyed by our students. Many thanks to the education team at Melbourne Theatre Company, it is so great to be seeing live theatre again!!  You can read some of our student's reactions below:

"Like watching life unfold, every little happy, sad and real moment. Nothing was hidden" Mia

"Dramatic and emotional engagement with beautiful execution"

Hugo

"Fun Home felt grounded and chilling, and the foreboding air to the play was masterfully crafted"

Angus
