Year 7 Lake Dewar Camp
The annual Year 7 camp was held from Wednesday March 2nd to Friday March 4th in the verdant surrounds of the Weribbee Gorge at Lake Dewar Lodge.
The peace of the campsite was soon shattered as 150 students arrived, very excited, full of energy and eager to discover the sleeping arrangements and the first outdoor activity.
Students slept in rooms of various sizes, with some cabins holding 12 students and others holding 5. There was keen competation for the best bed and eagerness to finally find out who they were sharing a cabin with.
After exploring the grounds and various play equipment, the students were ready for their first group activity. Each group completed eight activities over the three days, with all groups having the time of their life.
Paddleboarding and kayaking were hosted on Lake Dewar itself, while the Werribee Gorge played host to the flying fox and hiking. Mountain biking, bush cooking and adventure tunnelling provided further challenges.
As always year 7 Camp was full on, energetic, loud and so much fun! The experience was an amazing way for students to get to know their peers, build teamwork skills and confidence.
Thanks to everyone who put the camp together and helped make it such a positive experience for our newest THS students.
