Congratulations to Max Gawn (Class of 2009) and the Melbourne Football Club on their 2021 Grand Final win!

Not since 1964 had Melbourne lifted the trophy with legendary Melbourne captain Ron Barassi standing alongside Collingwood captain Ray Gabelich after the Demons had won by four points.

Max received the Thistlelonian Award in 2006.

 

Towards the end of his year 12 at McKinnon SC Max suffered an ACL injury just before being taken at number 63 in the AFL Draft by Melbourne in 2009.

 

Max was a member of the Boys Senior Netball Team at school, which won the State Final.
