CONGRATULATIONS
PUBLIC SERVICE MEDAL
Pitsa Binnion, Principal of McKinnon Secondary College, has been awarded the Public Service Medal (PSM) as part of the 2022 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Pitsa was awarded the PSM for her outstanding public service to education in Victoria.
Mrs Pitsa Binnion is an extraordinary educational leader. Her commitment over 39 years, as a teacher and principal, to ensuring the best outcomes for students is enduring, including in the face of the uncertainty brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As Principal of McKinnon Secondary College, Mrs Binnion has been persistent in her pursuit of educational excellence, with a remarkable impact on the performance and growth, including the development of a second campus.
Mrs Binnion's educational leadership, including work with other principals, and her devotion to improving outcomes, has had a marked impact on the Victorian education system and the lives of many students.

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD FOR THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION 2020
Monash University has awarded Pitsa Binnion the 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award for the Faculty of Education.
This is an outstanding award and is a well-deserved recognition for Pitsa’s contribution to her professional field, her leadership and her ability to inspire both students and staff to reach their highest potential.
As parents and colleagues we have all experienced these traits first hand so on behalf of the School Council, McKinnon staff, parents and students I would like to congratulate Pitsa on this award and thank her for her inspirational leadership, her commitment to education and the contribution she has made to McKinnon Secondary College.

VICTORIAN EDUCATION EXCELLENCE AWARDS
Pitsa Binnion was named as a finalist in the 2021 Victorian Education Excellence Awards!
Finalists for the 2021 Victorian Education Excellence Awards included 41 local principals, teachers, business managers and support teams across 14 categories recognised for their achievements in education this year.
We are delighted that Pitsa Binnion was named among the finalists, a wonderful acknowledgement of her contribution to our school and broader community.
Pitsa Binnion was chosen as a finalist in the Colin Simpson Outstanding Secondary Principal Award.
Pitsa Binnion was nominated for her great work and sustained commitment to the students and community of McKinnon Secondary College and the government system as a whole. Working as an advisor, mentor and educational leader, Pitsa Binnion is building teacher and principal capacity across the sector, contributing to Department of Education and Training advisory panels, school reviews and policy development at the highest levels.
Now in its twentieth year, the awards are the premier employee recognition program for staff in Victorian government schools. The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of staff who improve schools and support children and young people to develop the skills and learning outcomes to succeed in life.
The awards demonstrate how dedicated and innovative school staff are making a positive difference to their students and school communities, and to be a finalist is a great achievement. Congratulations again to Pitsa Binnion.
