Visual Arts Faculty Update

Top Designs and Crumpler Studio Excursion

Last Friday 11 May our VCE Visual Communication Design students had an inspiring day visiting the Top Designs exhibition at Melbourne Museum and the Crumpler Fitzroy Store and Workshop.

At the Top Designs exhibit our students took time to observe, question, analyse designs, installations and models. They left inspired with ideas about aesthetics, designs and directions they could take and explore for their SAT Folios.

Following that, we were fortunate enough to visit the Crumpler Fitzroy Store and workshop where we gained invaluable industry insights into the Melbourne brand's design and production processes.

Our Shelford students turned ‘Industrial Designers,’ were given the opportunity from the Crumpler Team to design a concept and bag design for the Weenie Bag. Sherina Liu’s design was selected by the Crumpler team as it strongly represented the Crumpler brand in colour selection and placement. We were able to observe her design be put together and constructed into a real life bag!
