Swimming finishes with a super Carnival and District Competition
Our students finished their swimming lessons at Leongatha with fantastic results and lots of improvements. Students who reached the milestones for specific levels will be given their certificates next week.
Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to all of our students who participated in Thursday's Swimming Carnival. The day was a really wonderful demonstration of how our students care for and encourage each other to do their best. We have amazing swimmers and those who are still building their confidence and today was an opportunity for everyone to have a go and do their best and have fun at their own level! Our carnival is not a highly competitive event. It is designed to bring our students together to support and celebrate their efforts with previous swimming lessons. (Those students who are competitive swimmers had their trials last week for selection to the District competition and will be racing tomorrow at Korumburra.) It doesn't matter who came first second or third - what is important is that you tried your best and improved.
Congratulation to our Sports Captains who did a marvellous job working with their houses. Well done to Paige, Aidyn, Bailey and Jasmine. It was delightful to watch our older students support our little people during their races and encourage those who were feeling a little nervous.
Huge effort by lots of students and parents dressing up in house colours. it was great to see our three houses in their colours!
Many thanks all of the parents who assisted; with marshalling, handing out ribbons and cooking sausages. We have an amazing parent community who are supportive of our school events and understand the benefits to all children when we offer opportunities such as our Swimming Carnival. Thank you to all the parents who help us work with all students and have an understanding of our school values and 'Play is the Way' approach. We appreciate your encouragment and non judgemental approach towards our students. We are a school that believes we all have a role to play in developing young people and this means parents and teachers and our community work together for the benefit of all students.
Mrs Spence was very disappointed she was unable to be at the Swim Carnival and I have been in touch to let her know how the day went. Our teaching team stepped up today and we were able to enjoy a successful day due the planning and organisation which Mrs Spence had completed. The work of our teaching team is to be acknowledge along with their willingness to consistently provide a high quality program and give above and beyond ensuring all students are given opportunities to succeed. Many thanks to Julie Nettle our resident photographer
District Swimming
Congratulations to our district swimmers for an outstanding effort at Korumburra pool today. Fabulous results for our Karmai Cluster team and terrific personal achievements for all students. Zac has qualified to swim in the Division Competition which is a wonderful achievement. Well done to everyone Bianca, Tara, Zac, Thomas, Josie, Amelia, Jayson, Chloe, Leilani and Patrick!
Many thanks to Dayna Lightowler, Mark Hunter and parents who accompanied our students and ensured they had a great day!
