Specialist Classes

Performing Arts lessons began last Friday after the conclusion of the swimming program. All classes showed great enthusiasm and eagerness to try some of our new percussion instruments. The whole school was introduced to the three House songs in readiness for the House Swimming Carnival. All classes from prep to six enjoyed learning to play the different rhythmic patterns that accompany each song. Students learned how to fit these patterns over a steady beat to stay in time with the music while they sang.

The three house songs are...

Blue House - “Blue Suede Shoes”

Yellow House - "Yellow Submarine"

Purple House - "Purple People Eater"

Help needed to transport a piano to Loch Primary

We have been very fortunate to be donated a piano and other musical instruments from Mrs Em Barton, the convenor of the South Gippsland Concert Band. We would love to accept this kind offer but we need to request some assistance in collecting the piano from Korumburra and delivering it to its new home in the Kookaburra Room. Em has suggested that it could be easily managed in a horse float as its entry point is low to the ground. If there are any parents who are able to help us to solve this problem we would be delighted to hear from you. Please leave a message at the office and we will get back to you to discuss the plan!

Coming soon to Music

You may have heard the new digital drum kit being played enthusiastically after school most days. The middle and senior students are certainly looking forward to learning the correct drumming technique in their next lesson. All students from prep to year six will also have the chance to try keyboards and ukuleles in the coming weeks. Exciting times in Performing Arts…stay tuned!
