PATTERSON RIVER SWIMMING CARNIVAL

We recently held our school swimming carnival on a beautiful sunny day at Pines Pool. A big thank you to all the staff for all the hard work they put in, and an even bigger thank you to all the students who turned out in team colours and got involved, making for a great carnival.

Many students had success on this day, qualifying for the Northern Peninsula Division Championships a week later.

Division and Regional Swimming Championships.

We had further success at this level, with 15 students winning events against neighbouring schools and qualifying for the Southern Metro Region Championships held at MSAC. Two of these swimmers went on to win medals on this day, a fantastic achievement considering the level of competition. Congratulations to Briana Harraway who finished 2nd in the 14 Females 50m and a special congratulations to Charlee Lang who won two 1st place medals in her 50m Freestyle and Backstroke events. Well done girls!

SUCCESS FOR OUR STUDENTS IN LIFE SAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Four Patterson River Secondary College students recently competed at the 2021 Youth/Senior Life Saving Victoria Rescue and Resuscitation State Championships representing Bonbeach Life Saving Club.

We are very proud to congratulate the following students on their impressive performances and dedication to such a worthwhile community service.

  • Ryan Talbot – U17 5 Person Rescue and Resuscitation Gold medallist and State Champion
  • Fern McGirr – U15 5 Person Rescue and Resuscitation Gold medallist and State Champion
  • Ruth Littler – U15 5 Person Rescue and Resuscitation Gold medallist and State Champion
  • Julia Talbot – U15 5 Person Rescue and Resuscitation Silver medallist

Equally impressive is that, in order to compete, they had to complete either their Bronze Medallion or Surf Rescue Certificate, qualifying them to be Life Savers or Life Savers in training.  Additionally, they each completed 20 hours of voluntary patrol, prior to competing, for the Life Saving club during the course of the season, which runs from November to April.

HOUSE ATHLETICS

Hot off the press, a few snaps of our students at the annual House Athletics day held on the last day of the term. An in-depth review next newsletter.
