TERM 1, 2021

This term we have seen an influx of enthusiastic Year 7s either engaging in a Library introduction session, Reading Challenge meetings or simply enjoying an opportunity to relax and read or catch up on class work. Do not forget that students can play chess every Thursday lunchtime in the Library.

Watch out for the ‘Love Your Library’ short film created for Open night that will be streamed.

 

Overdue Library Books

There are still a few students with outstanding library books from last year. Please return these promptly. It is important to check emails regularly and Compass for library notices re any overdue resources.

Please check with Mrs Bernardo, Mrs Bartle or Ms Carson if you have any queries about misplaced or lost items.

CALLING ALL STUDENTS!

We have a growing collection of Graphic Novels/Manga and Biography for enthusiasts of these genres.  These titles are easily located together on their own special shelves in the fiction area.  Pop in, browse, read and do not forget to pass on any suggestions for new titles to add to the collections.

Check out the ‘ANZAC’ display in the Library foyer, with many ANZAC Day/Gallipoli related books to read.

READING  CHALLENGE  2021

Students in Years 7 – 10 are welcome to sign up for the Victorian Premier’s RC 2021. Easy as! Just read a minimum of 15 books between March and September. See Mrs Bernardo in the Library or download the enrolment form from the Team Year level Hubs.

Our next meeting runs Wednesday April 28. (12.40pm in the Library).

 

 

INSIGHT CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION 2021

Express your creativity and be in the running to share in over $3000 of cash prizes!

Insight Publications is proud to announce its Creative Writing Competition for 2021. This competition aims to ignite a passion for creative writing in secondary-school students and to inspire the voices of the future.

Themes and word count. 

Write your story to this year’s theme: A flash of inspiration. 

The word count should be as outlined below.

  • Year 7:   400 – 800 words
  • Year 8:   400 – 800 words
  • Year 9:   600 – 1100 words
  • Year 10: 600 – 1100 words
  • Year 11: 900 – 1400 words
  • Year 12: 900 – 1400 words

Stories must be accompanied with a 100-word statement that addresses at least one of the following:

  • your motivation for writing
  • your creative inspiration
  • your aspirations for future writing.
