Tiarni O’Brien (Year 11) received a $1000 James Cook University dance excellence bursary, after receiving dual first place awards in the song and dance championship and musical theatre genres.  We’re very proud of your achievements.

 

 

Congratulations to Adrian Leighton (Year 8) who has been selected to play in the Qld U13 State Teams for the Australian U13 National Championships! Adrian will travel to Hobart in late September this year for the Championships. This is an amazing achievement! Well done, Adrian!  Hockey Queensland

 

 

Congratulations to Sienna Hodgson (Year 8) on her cable wakeboarding success last weekend! Sienna competed in the Qld winter wonderland wake comp and received gold medals in U15 and amateur women's traditional rides as well as U15 women's kicker comp. These are fantastic results.  Well done, Sienna!

 

 

 

 

Congratulations to Amber Robeck (Year 12) who signed up as a school based apprentice with Klic's Hair Design. Amber will be undertaking a Cert III in Hairdressing. All the best Amber with your apprenticeship.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Congratulations to Orlando Geary (Year 8) and his U14 Marlins basketball team for progressing to the National Club Championship in Victoria later this year! Orlando was also 1 of 14 Cairns athletes to the selected in the Queensland Basketball Future Development Program. Congratulations, Orlando!

 

 

 

 

Last weekend, seven St Mary's students represented the Peninsula region at the Queensland School Sports Cross Country Championships in Ipswich. Students must qualify to race this event and they represent the top 1% of all runners in their age across the state. Congratulations to Jett Porta, Lara Lane, Ollie Van Rees, Taj Townsend, Gracie Van Rees, Madisyn Jones and Elizabeth Suchanek who have trained consistently for the last few months and represented the College beautifully. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication. A special congratulations to Lara Lane who achieved a top 10 finish (9th) in 13yr Girls with an impressive time of 10.43.

Luke Loeskow (Year 10) travelled to Toowoomba last week to referee in the U12 State Football Championships. Luke was selected as one of the 22 refs from Queensland to officiate games over the four days. They officiated 3-5 games each day, all the time being assessed and mentored by Referee Coaches from Football Queensland. Luke was also selected to officiate the Grand Final on Sunday! Luke had an amazing time and gained so much from the experience. Well done!

 

 

 

Congratulations to Jack Dennis (Year 11)who has signed up as a School Based Apprentice with Jaques Electrical. Jack will be undertaking a Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrician. St Mary's wishes you all the best Jack, as you undertake your school based apprenticeship.
