Cairns Eisteddfod -

Congratulations to all our students who performed in the Cairns Eisteddfod at the end of Term 2.  It was lovely to see so many St Mary’s students performing throughout the event. Special congratulations to Raymond East who won the Bowed Instrument Championship and was awarded the Violin Aggregate.

Our Ensembles represented the College admirably and St Mary’s String Orchestra received 2nd place in the String Ensemble section and the College Choir received 1st place in Modern/Popular Chorus and Unison and 2nd place in Australian, Sacred and Folk chorus sections. Thank you to our dedicated teachers, Mrs Joanne Wright, Mrs Kathryn Oxford, Mrs Margaret Willis and Mr Robert Johnstone for their hard work in preparing our students.

Congratulations to St Mary’s String and Choir students on their performances in the Catholic Schools on Stage performance on Wednesday 28th held at St Andrew’s College.  It was wonderful to see so many of our students involved in the evening, culminating in a massed performance of I Am Australian and I Still Call Australia Home with 500 students from across the diocese. Thank you to Mrs Kathryn Oxford for conducting the choir while Mrs Wright is on leave, Mrs Willis for her accompanying and Mr Johnstone for his efforts with the combined string items.
