FACE THE WASTE CONTINUE TO INSPIRE

Our Just Start IT Champions, Face the Waste, delivered another stand-out presentation at Perfect Pitch, a small business pitching competition, at Crown Perth on Thursday 15 September (Week 9, Term 3).

The team, represented by Josephine Hunt (Year 9 O'Reilly) and Angel Babu (Year 9 Kimberley), managed to successfully pitch their business plan to a room full of local, national and international executives who were attending the WA Waste and Recycling Conference in Perth.

Unlike the school-based Just Start IT competition that they won in Term 3, this experience saw the team competing against four real-life, adult, local start-ups in a 'Shark Tank style' pitching competition in the Crown Ballrooms.

As the youngest team (by over 20+ years), the girls did an outstanding job against some very strong and experienced competition.

Over the course of the afternoon, the Face the Waste team gained a wealth of experience from observing (and networking with) local and international recycling experts. As an added bonus, and a direct result of their hard work leading up to the event, they also managed to convince 'the sharks' to part with a significant cash prize - which they will use to invest back into in their fledgling business.

Both girls said that "it was so much fun, we were super nervous, but we think we did really well. Winning the money is great but we also ended up with a pocket full of business cards and some incredibly useful leads and contacts for the business".

Congratulations!
