Welcome to Term 2 Sport!

Equestrian

Congratulations to Ava Irwin who participated in the State Interschools Equestrian event during the recent school holidays in Werribee. 

 

Ava was thrilled to finish 4th overall in the Year 7-9 category in the dressage section and then finished 10th overall in the Year 7-9 showing section. 

 

This is a wonderful achievement for Ava competing against the best in the state! 

 

Well done to Ava for representing St Joseph’s beautifully at presentations. 

 

Upon returning from the State competition Ava was notified of her selection in the Australian 14 & Under dressage team for pony club Australia! 

 

This event takes place from May 15 - 30. There are four riders who have been chosen to ride from across Australia in the 14 & Under section. This is a worldwide virtual event and Ava’s section will be judged from Canada. Wishing you the very best of luck Ava as you embark on this wonderful opportunity!

 

State Swimming

Two relay teams and two individual swimmers represented St Joseph’s College at MSAC in Melbourne on Friday 28 April. We would like to congratulate these students on reaching the State finals where the competition was extremely strong. 

 

Our Year 7 girls achieved 5th place in the 4x50m Freestyle Relay which included; Emily M, Ruby M, Sophie T and Charlotte W. 

 

Our Year 8 boys 4x50m Freestyle Relay swam with courage resulting in 6th place. Well done to Oscar C, Van L, Ryan S and Mitchell S.

 

Nash Ramage had a busy day in the pool achieving the following results - 5th place 20 years 50m Breastroke, 6th place 20 years 50m Freestyle and 5th place 20 years 50m Backstroke. 

 

Congratulations Nash on a tremendous effort!

 

A big congratulations to Ayla McAsey who swam strongly in the 12-14 years 50m Backstroke Multiclass, achieving first place and an opportunity to swim at the National event. Ayla was also a strong competitor in the 14 years 50m Freestyle Multiclass, gaining second place, with PBs in both events. A fantastic effort Ayla!

 

Loddon Mallee Region Tennis

Four teams travelled to the LMR tennis tournament in Mildura on Tuesday 2 May and achieved incredible results across the board. 

 

Our Intermediate Girls team consisting of Maisy Byrne, Georgia Mahoney, Lila Mahoney, Evie Ritchie and Abbey Stobaus played some excellent tennis and were winners on the day. This team will now progress to the State finals in Melbourne on Friday 19 May.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our Year 8 Boys team were fierce competitors on the day and achieved first place in the 

tournament, securing a spot in the State finals in Melbourne on Thursday 16 November. Well done to Liam Beasley, Jack Byrne, Xavier Carmichael, Ben Henson and Hugo Monnich Vo.

 

 

 

 

The Year 7 Boys team (Arley Canham, Campbell Keele, Cody Reyne, Xavier Stewart and Judd Spittal) and Senior Girls team (Mia Aston, Annie Byrne, Sienna Johnstone, Leila Palmer and Amy Parker) played their hearts out, achieving second place. Well done on this fine achievement at the LMR!

House Cross Country

Next Tuesday 9 May we will be participating in our House Cross Country Event at Jack Eddy Oval, Moama. Students will walk/run 3km in their age group.
