Auslan News

This week in Auslan we have been continuing to practise signs for Sea, Farm and Zoo Animals. Students have learned how to sign some descriptive words this week, including: smooth, rough, bumpy, fluffy, furry, hairy, small, tall, jumpy, slow, fast and feathered (fingerspelling).

Students have learned how to describe animals using these describing words along with colours.

Remember when describing animals in Auslan... the Animal Name always comes first and then the descriptive words.

Mrs Riordan.

District Athletics

Good luck to those students who will represent the school at the Deborah District Sports on MONDAY the 19st of June. These students have been informed of their selection and have received specific information (including a timetable of events), via Compass.

Sandhurst Division Soccer

I would like to congratulate both the Senior Boys and Girls soccer teams for their performance at the Sandhurst Division Soccer Championships at Epsom last Thursday. Both of our teams represented the school extremely well, demonstrating wonderful sportsmanship, skill and team spirit.

The Boys team had a particularly successful day. They finished the day with 3 wins, one draw and a loss to eventual winner Kennington PS. This meant that they finished 2nd overall in their competition.

The Girls team also had a great day, particularly given it was the first time many of the team members had played competitive soccer. They were extremely competitive in all of the games they played and finished the day with one win, one draw and two losses.

It was a pleasure to take such a well behaved, enthusiastic, team orientated group of students to this tournament. I would sincerely like to thank Louise McColl and former SGPS School Captain, Frankie Stevens, for their outstanding coaching of the Girls team. I would also like the thank Mr Daenke for his wonderful work with the Boys team. The players have certainly learnt a great deal in a short period of time.

Loddon Mallee Region Cross Country

Congratulations to Charlie F who represented Spring Gully Primary and the Sandhurst Division at the LM Regional Cross Country on Tuesday. This event featured the best distance runners from North West, North Central and Central Victoria and was held on a particularly challenging St Arnaud course.

In an amazing run, Charlie finished 4th in the 11 Years Boys race. He has now qualified for the School Sport Victoria - State Cross Country Championships at Yarra Glen on Thursday the 13th of July. Outstanding effort, Charlie!

Music News

A huge congratulations to Clara M. on her weekend of singing sucess at the Bendigo Competitions! We are super proud of Clara for her efforts!

She entered ‘8 years and under Song from a stage musical solo’ section and sang ‘Naughty’ from Matilda by Tim Minchin. She won this category.

She sang ‘The Rainbow Connection’ in ‘8 years and under film or tv solo’ section.

She came second in this one.

She sang so beautifully on stage at the Bendigo Capital Theatre and worked really hard. Both songs have some significant challenges in them, but she nailed them both.
